FOLKLORE

STORY, MYTH, AND LEGEND

Thesis works relating to Swedish/Scandinavian folklore.As an artist trying to illustrate a story - to
visualise my own memories - I seek to have as many compositional elements as possible acting
to reinforce the narrative within the piece. I doubt any particular viewer is going to understand
every reference, every little nod to research or memory, but the more I put in, the more
opportunities the viewer has to grasp some of these elements. These compositional elements
act as a trail of symbolic breadcrumbs, leading the audience towards the viewpoint I want them
to have when examining my piece.
